HR Interview Prep
Learn how to answer 'Tell me about yourself', 'Why should we hire you?', and negotiate your first salary.
1Common HR Questions & Strategies
Q: Tell me about yourself.
Use the Present-Past-Future formula. Start with your current role/degree, briefly mention past experiences/projects, and finish with what you're looking for next (which should align with the job).
Q: What are your weaknesses?
Be honest but strategic. Pick a real, minor weakness (e.g., 'I sometimes focus too much on details') and immediately explain the steps you take to overcome it.
Q: Why should we hire you?
Align your skills with the job description. Mention specific projects where you used their required tech stack. Show enthusiasm for the company's product.
2The STAR Method for Behavioral Questions
• S - Situation: Set the scene and give the necessary details of your example.
• T - Task: Describe what your responsibility was in that situation.
• A - Action: Explain exactly what steps you took to address it.
• R - Result: Share what outcomes your actions achieved (use numbers if possible!).
