HR Interview Prep

Learn how to answer 'Tell me about yourself', 'Why should we hire you?', and negotiate your first salary.

1Common HR Questions & Strategies

Q: Tell me about yourself.

A:

Use the Present-Past-Future formula. Start with your current role/degree, briefly mention past experiences/projects, and finish with what you're looking for next (which should align with the job).

Q: What are your weaknesses?

A:

Be honest but strategic. Pick a real, minor weakness (e.g., 'I sometimes focus too much on details') and immediately explain the steps you take to overcome it.

Q: Why should we hire you?

A:

Align your skills with the job description. Mention specific projects where you used their required tech stack. Show enthusiasm for the company's product.

2The STAR Method for Behavioral Questions

S - Situation: Set the scene and give the necessary details of your example.

T - Task: Describe what your responsibility was in that situation.

A - Action: Explain exactly what steps you took to address it.

R - Result: Share what outcomes your actions achieved (use numbers if possible!).
